Poor Cinderella

So I was bored one day early last year (email says Feb 08) and thought I'd try to turn a fairy tale into a song.

The 'Poor Cinderella' is a second vocal underneath the main line.

Sweeping the kitchen floor
Poor Cinderella
Know who she’s working for
Poor Cinderella
Stepmam and jealous hags
Poor Cinderella
Dressed her in dirty rags
Poor Cinderella

Cinderella’s a Damsel in Distress
Her nails are a frightful mess,
Till her Prince rode around the town
And put on her head a golden crown

Sweet Cindy visited one night
Poor Cinderella
From her fairy an awful fright
Poor Cinderella
But was dressed up for a fancy ball,
Poor Cinderella
Glass heels to steal the show and more
Poor Cinderella

Cinderella’s a Damsel in Distress
Her nails are a frightful mess,
Till her Prince rode around the town
And put on her head a golden crown

She rode a pumpkin to the dance
Poor Cinderella
By magic was made all fancy pants
Poor Cinderella
Smote the Prince with all her grace
Poor Cinderella
It helped that she also had a pretty face.
Poor Cinderella

Cinderella’s a Damsel in Distress
Her nails are a frightful mess,
Till her Prince rode around the town
And put on her a golden crown

She left at the stroke of midnight
Poor Cinderella
Left the Prince at the ballroom door
Poor Cinderella
All she left was her see through slipper
Poor Cinderella
Left lying on the dewy garden
Poor Cinderella

Cinderella’s a Damsel in Distress
Her nails are a frightful mess,
Till her Prince rode around the town
And put on her a golden crown

The Prince was a driven man
Poor Cinderella
Asked all the ladies was it their slipper
Poor Cinderella
Failing that he hit the town
Poor Cinderella
To ask every girl he found
Poor Cinderella

Cinderella’s a Damsel in Distress
Her nails are a frightful mess,
Till her Prince rode around the town
And put on her a golden crown

Eventually he found poor Cindy
Poor Cinderella
Filthy from cleaning the chimney
Poor Cinderella
But the shoe fit her dainty feet
Poor Cinderella
He was happy to finally meet
Poor Cinderella

Cinderella’s a Damsel in Distress
Her nails are a frightful mess,
Till her Prince rode around the town
And put on her a golden crown

She’s doing all right from this point on
A Prince has made her his Princess
There’s a lesson to be learnt from all this
Time for you to clean the bathroom floor,
Cause Cindy’s not poor any longer.

Cinderella’s a Damsel in Distress
Her nails are a frightful mess,
Till her Prince rode around the town
And put on her a golden crown
