Another one that needs a bit of work to make it flow.
I'm trying to think of a gift for you,
It's very important you see
It has to beautiful, precious and rare,
It has to be important to me.
I thought of gold and jewellery,
Diamonds, money and art,
But surely that do not compare at all
To the gift you gave me, your heart.
What if I offered you a house,
A grand place of your very own,
I'd be happy working my whole lifetime
I'd pay it, whatever the loan.
But that still isn't enough you see
It needs to be something I treasure,
A thought came to me as I said it
The life of a lady at leisure.
I'd love to see you smiling everyday
And never have doubts or fears,
But I wonder if you'd end up bored with it
And leisure to you isn't dear.
There is one gift I could offer you
A gift both right and true,
With nary a hesitation I'd offer it,
The gift I'd give would be you.
I'd do all in my power to offer you,
Freedom and love to grow,
The chance to be what you want to be
It's really the best gift I know.
So if you'd accept you from me,
My lifetime of servanthood,
I'd help you do whatever you please,
The way one who loves you should.

The Middle Ages
I've got a bald patch on my head so thank you mama,
I've got a nice round belly just like my old papa,
My poor back aches, every time I wake
This is what they call;
Middle age
So I'm gonna just stay in my bed today
And hope that it all goes away.
My hair is getting grey just like my papa,
I'm getting hot flushes just like my mama,
My joints all creak and my eyesight is weak
This is what they call;
Middle age
So I'm gonna just stay in my bed today.
And hope that it all goes away.
My arms have wings so thank you mama,
My fingers look like roots like my old papa,
I walk with a stoop and my eyelids droop
This is what they call;
Middle age
So I'm gonna just stay in bed today
And hope that it all goes away.
I know I'm not going to get any better,
Soon I'll be replaced by my young kids,
But I've plotted and planned and cut no slack
They'll soon know why it's called;
Middle age.
So I'm gonna stay in the home today
And bide my time till I can pass away.

My poor back aches, every time I wake
This is what they call;

Far away girl.
Fairly recent one, needs alot more work, once i have a spare hour or two I'll go back over it and repost here.
Her hair is blonde and her eyes are blue
and when she smiles she has a dimple or two
a cute button nose and a radiant smile
to have her look at me I'd run a thousand miles.
Far away girl, far away girl,
You rule my world when your finger curls
Far away girl, far away girl,
I hope you'll be free in your far away world.
You are the sparkle in my day,
And you light up my dreams at night.
You're more important to me than the sun to a tree
And when you're gone it's like I've lost my sight
Far away girl, far away girl,
Draping your hair with a strand of pearls
Far away girl, far away girl,
I hope you'll be free in your far away world.
Please tell me you'll reconsider.
And let me know that I was wrong,
Just say the words and I'll be back at your feet
Beside you is where I belong.
Instead I'll have to watch from far away
I'm the kind of guy who's in an ordin'ry way
I've got nothing to offer her of any kind
Just a soft heart and a beautiful mind.
Far away girl, far away girl,
Draping your hair with a strand of pearls
Far away girl, far away girl,
I hope you'll be free in your far away world.
So tonight I'll be crying myself to sleep
Picture her face in my dreams so deep,
The only way I can have my far away girl
Is in the solemn quiet of my personal world.
Far away girl, far away girl,
Draping your hair with a strand of pearls
Far away girl, far away girl,

Tangerine
Including the flub that i wrote to go with it 2 and a bit years ago.
This one is to a fairly quick time. Inspired by the opening from Tools' Third Eye (Talking about how drugs have been good to us re: great music made when high) So I thought I'd rip one out without the benefit of drugs. Yeah, tangerine from the Beatles' Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds :)
Slippin through a slide show world,
We're running through it backwards,
Only making progress, you're in a daze of pain
Shooting craps, shooting pool, shooting up tonight,
Orange is a colour, Tangerine makes you high.
The fire's looking pretty,
I wanna touch, a taste,
Words I'm in a heady swirl,
I wish I's off my face.
Shooting craps, shooting pool, shooting up tonight,
Orange is a colour, Fuchsia makes you high.
The phone is ringing in your head,
No, better check your pockets,
Mary's on the other line, she's lost her little lamb.
Slippin through a slide show world,
I'm jumping through some hoops,
Only making progress, you're in a daze of pain
Shooting craps, shooting pool, shooting up tonight,
Orange is a colour, Tangerine makes you high.

Poor Cinderella
So I was bored one day early last year (email says Feb 08) and thought I'd try to turn a fairy tale into a song.
The 'Poor Cinderella' is a second vocal underneath the main line.
Sweeping the kitchen floor
Poor Cinderella
Know who she’s working for
Poor Cinderella
Stepmam and jealous hags
Poor Cinderella
Dressed her in dirty rags
Poor Cinderella
Cinderella’s a Damsel in Distress
Her nails are a frightful mess,
Till her Prince rode around the town
And put on her head a golden crown
Sweet Cindy visited one night
Poor Cinderella
From her fairy an awful fright
Poor Cinderella
But was dressed up for a fancy ball,
Poor Cinderella
Glass heels to steal the show and more
Poor Cinderella
Cinderella’s a Damsel in Distress
Her nails are a frightful mess,
Till her Prince rode around the town
And put on her head a golden crown
She rode a pumpkin to the dance
Poor Cinderella
By magic was made all fancy pants
Poor Cinderella
Smote the Prince with all her grace
Poor Cinderella
It helped that she also had a pretty face.
Poor Cinderella
Cinderella’s a Damsel in Distress
Her nails are a frightful mess,
Till her Prince rode around the town
And put on her a golden crown
She left at the stroke of midnight
Poor Cinderella
Left the Prince at the ballroom door
Poor Cinderella
All she left was her see through slipper
Poor Cinderella
Left lying on the dewy garden
Poor Cinderella
Cinderella’s a Damsel in Distress
Her nails are a frightful mess,
Till her Prince rode around the town
And put on her a golden crown
The Prince was a driven man
Poor Cinderella
Asked all the ladies was it their slipper
Poor Cinderella
Failing that he hit the town
Poor Cinderella
To ask every girl he found
Poor Cinderella
Cinderella’s a Damsel in Distress
Her nails are a frightful mess,
Till her Prince rode around the town
And put on her a golden crown
Eventually he found poor Cindy
Poor Cinderella
Filthy from cleaning the chimney
Poor Cinderella
But the shoe fit her dainty feet
Poor Cinderella
He was happy to finally meet
Poor Cinderella
Cinderella’s a Damsel in Distress

Till her Prince rode around the town
And put on her a golden crown
She’s doing all right from this point on
A Prince has made her his Princess
There’s a lesson to be learnt from all this
Time for you to clean the bathroom floor,
Cause Cindy’s not poor any longer.

30 years
I see you walking, down my way;
I try to talk to you, you turn and walk away.
Doo doo de doo, doo doo de doo;
Doo doo de doo, doo doo de doo;
I see you at the beach, looking mighty fine;
I say hello to you but you haven't got the time.
Doo doo de doo, doo doo de doo;
Doo doo de doo, doo doo de doo;
When at the shopping mall I whisper in your ear;
You turn me right around and kick me in the rear.
Doo doo de doo, doo doo de doo;
Doo doo de doo, doo doo de doo;
I tell you my best lines, I've worked on them for weeks;
You call me a fool, I turn the other cheek.
Doo doo de doo, doo doo de doo;
Doo doo de doo, doo doo de doo;
Well we've been married, for thirty years;
You swear and curse and spit and yet you're still my dear.
Doo doo de doo, doo doo de doo;
Doo doo de doo, doo doo de doo.
Note: This one came fully formed, well the first two lines and the doo doo de doo when I left my house and saw a few people walking by. I had to leave and had no writing materials on me (bad move I know) so I had to keep on creating to keep it fresh.

Sing me a lullaby
Sung to Brahms Cradle Song
Sing me a lullaby for those cold empty nights
Sing me a lullaby for the times you’re away
Rock me in your arms while I close my eyes
Hold me in your heart while I fall asleep.
Don’t you cry my little one I’m here by your side
Don’t shed a single tear I’ll always be here
I love you my darling child you’re the beat of my heart
I love you my darling child.
